From the Sales Team

I asked Chad Schaedler to put together a summary of the exciting developments with new proposals over the last several weeks.  Here is what he sent:

"
It has been a very exciting two weeks on the sales side of the house.  The K12 sales team brought three request for proposals (RFP) to us.  With all of them due within a week of one another, it required a valiant effort on the part of many.  I have been very impressed with the team and how they stepped up to insure that we not only got these responses in on time, but that we put together well thought out and well written responses.  If you have a great product and a great team, your proposals need to be reflective of that.  I am proud to say that any reviewer will be hard-pressed to not see the quality in our work.

To give you some specifics on the proposals we put together:

1.       Socorro Independent School District (El Paso, TX) – pre-qualifies MIL as a world language provider in the district.  The K12 team will have to pursue opportunities at the building level.

2.       Delaware Department of Education – to provide world language courses and instruction to 1,200 middle school students in the first year.  Ramps up to as many as 7,000 students in successive years.  This is our first real opportunity to sell directly to a DOE, and we anticipate that a significant portion of our future business will come from these types of sales.

3.       Amarillo Independent School District (TX) – to provide world language courses for their middle and high school students.  The district is also looking to pilot world languages with one of their elementary schools. They are not looking for us to provide instruction.  This is a great example of us getting in front of a district and helping to shape thinking on best practices which Katie Peluso and the K12 rep were able to do.

4.       ABC News – with their recently announced partnership with Univision, the company wants to provide their employees with Spanish courses.  While we are up against Rosetta for this, we are the only ones able to provide live instruction onsite in NYC and teachers for our online courses  -- a great opportunity to draw on the strength of our experience with the MMLA.  This is a great opportunity for us to expand our offerings beyond the school space.

I want to thank all who worked so diligently on these proposals – Beth Gaunce, Cort Boulanger, Becky, Jim, Beth Gemmill, Kandyce, Linda, Jamie, Cynthia, Michelle, Ismail, Dana and Spencer.  As you can see, it was a real team effort.

Chad"

Winning these would put a serious dent in our aggressive growth plans for FY 13.  I want to add my thanks to all who helped.

Jane

  1. "3. ... This is a great example of us getting in front of a district and helping to shape thinking on best practices..."
What does this mean? Can someone elaborate on the phrase "best practices"?

"4. This is a great opportunity for us to expand our offerings beyond the school space."
Which other spaces, beyond the school space, is Middlebury looking to expand into?
