I attended a pre-conference workshop about Standards-based teaching in Arabic. Fascinating videos of students in an inner-city class being taught in-language from their first class, learning names, alphabets and how to introduce themselves and each other. We also saw a presentation about a new assessment test called the AAPPL, which ACTFL is sponsoring. It will be available in January 2013 in six languages. It looked very compatible with our Fluency approach.
Very interesting. Thanks for posting. Do you have access to those videos that you could post on the blog? Were the teachers native Arabic speakers? Thanks again.
